Preview

This game will be the second meeting for the Kings and Lakers in this year's preseason with Los Angeles winning the first one on Oct. 4, 103-84, at the Honda Center.

Sacramento's starters all played limited minutes during the said contest while the Lakers' suited up for a longer period despite the game being a preseason match.

DeMarcus Cousins was impressive, scoring 11 points, grabbing six rebounds, and dishing out four assists, but he only played 15 minutes. Newly-acquired shooting guard Aron Afflalo fired 14 points in 18 minutes after he went 6-for-9 from the field including a 2-for-3 stint from beyond the three-point line.

As for the Lakers, Lou Williams, who took over starting duties from Jordan Clarkson as announced by new head coach Luke Walton, top scored the starters with 15 points in 21 minutes as he went 11-for-12 from the charity stripe.

Center Tarik Black also contributed 15 points off the bench while Clarkson scored 12.

The Kings are actually coming off a 135-96 drubbing of Israeli club Maccabi Haifa on Monday at their new home court of Golden 1 Center.

The starters were all available but backup shooting guard Ben McLemore, who was relegated to the bench after Afflalo was signed in the summer, led the team in scoring with 18 points in 24 minutes.

Cousins played 17 minutes in this one and fired 14 points on 5-for-7 shooting. He also added four boards and three assists in another excellent all-around performance.

Meanwhile, the Lakers were involved in a tooth-and-nail preseason battle with the Portland Trail Blazers at the Staples Center on Tuesday. It ended with the Hollywood team losing in overtime, 109-106, as Blazers point guard Damian Lillard unleashed 30 points in what looked like a regular season affair.

Jordan Clarkson again led the team in scoring with 15 points off the bench, while Nick Young, Julius Randle, D'Angelo Russell, and Timofey Mozgov fired 14, 13, 12, and 11 respectively in a balanced offensive night.

Prediction

Kings head coach Dave Joerger is expected to still play his starters in limited minutes while Walton will continue to improve chemistry among his young core. Another preseason win for the Lakers is predicted.
