Five-member boy band BEAST will soon leave Cube Entertainment after 7 years under its management. A source also confirms that the group will transfer to their own music label.
BEAST's 7-year contract with Cube Entertainment ended on Oct. 15, and all the members have not renewed their contract. Instead, it's been announced that they will be putting up an independent music label.
Group leader Doo Joon previously hinted about BEAST's departure from Cube Entertainment through a post on Instagram where he wrote, as translated by allkpop, "Soon, it'll be our 7th anniversary... A lot of things will change, but hopefully everyone can get used to it quickly!!!! Thank you, B2UTY, B2ST. Everyone worked hard!!!!!! Please continue to take care of us."
He added, "I can remember all the memories like it was just yesterday. The second story to B2ST will now start. Everyone, fighting! Thank you. I love you!"
The decision to switch agencies is supported by B2ST's fans. The group also received support from 2PM's Taecyeon. The singer shared a link of a news article about B2ST establishing their own music label, to which he commented, "Awesome."
However, Koreaboo reported that the group is still in the middle of negotiating their contract with Cube Entertainment and that not that has been finalized regarding their exit.
BEAST debuted in 2009 with their single "Bad Girl." In 2010, the group released their second mini-album, "Shock of the New Era," which catapulted them into international stardom and saw a dramatic increase in their following. The album quickly sold 20,000 copies in South Korea and was a certified Gold Disk album in Singapore.
The group started with six original members: Doo Joon, Jun Hyung, Yo Seob, Kikwang and Hyun Seung. The latter officially left the group on April 2016 to pursue a solo career.
