"Spider-Man: Homecoming" star Tom Holland has confirmed that a sequel for the upcoming "Spider-Man" film in the MCU is already underway. The 20-year old also talked about the possibility of appearing in the next "Avengers" film.
While "Homecoming" has yet to hit the big screens, it appears that both Marvel and Sony are already in the early stages of the planning for its sequel. In an interview, Holland revealed that talks about the next villain and storyline is already on the table, WWD reported.
"My next project, I can't tell you about, but we've just finished 'Spider-Man' and we're talking about the second one and who the villain is going to be and where we're going," he said.
Elsewhere, Holland said that he could pop up in the third "Avengers" movie as well but clarified that it has not been confirmed, Variety reported.
"It's all up in the air," he said and added, "I believe some sort of deal is in the mix, but I'm unclear as to what that deal is."
Holland made his debut as Peter Parker in "Captain America: Civil War." His appearance in the film reinvigorated the interest in "Spider-Man" after two previous incarnations of the superhero under Sony Studios. Since then, a deal had been forged to squeeze in "Spider-Man: Homecoming" in Phase 3 of the MCU there by making it possible for him the join the "Avengers" when the squad takes on a cosmic threat in the name of Thanos.
"Spider-Man: Homecoming" is slated for release on July 7, 2017.
