Randeep Hooda opens up about working with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in ‘Sarbjit’

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Randeep Hooda will be playing the leading roles in Omung Kumar's upcoming biopic "Sarbjit." Based on true story, the film will see Hooda portraying the role of Sarabjit Singh and Bachchan playing the role of Singh's sister Dalbir Kaur. In his recent interview, Hooda opened up about working with the former Miss World and Padma Shri award winner.

Speaking to ANI (via India.com) in an exclusive interview, the 39-year-old actor confessed that he had never "ambitioned" to act with Bachchan. He said that he focuses on roles and directors he is working with.

"I never had an ambition to act with her as a co-star," Hooda told the Indian news agency. "I only look for roles for me and I work with the director more. In fact, somebody pointed out that we look a lot like brother-sister, which is strange but anyway it's good," the actor, who has is noted for his work in "Highway" and "Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai," said.

Bachchan is one of the top actresses' of Bollywood. She has often been named as "most beautiful woman in the world" and has been honoured with an award by the Government of France. Besides her roles in Bollywood movies, she is also known for her work in Hollywood movies such as "The Last Legion," and "The Pink Panther 2."

Hooda and Bachchan will be joined by Richa Chaddha in "Sarbjit." The actress will be playing the role of Sukhpreet Kaur. The movie that is slated to be released on May 19, tells the story of an Indian farmer who was convicted for terrorism and spying in Pakistan. In real life, Singh was tried by Pakistan court on the suspect of being involved in terrorist bombings in Lahore and Faisalabad. Singh claimed that he had accidentally crossed the border and entered Pakistan.

Singh was sentenced to death by the court, but he was allegedly beaten to death by his prison inmates. He succumbed to injuries and passed away six days after the attack.

Meanwhile, Bachchan will be seen doing traditional Punjabi dance in the movie, DNA reported. Speaking about the movie, the director said that "Sarbjit" is a biopic but it is "made in a different way." Fans can expect to see some light moments in the film as well.  

"Sarbjit's story spans over 23 years. Before he disappeared, his life was full of fun and festivity," Kumar said. "Then a drastic change happens, but a festive song was always meant to happen to show the contrast between then and now. While the seriousness has to be there, I am not making a boring film. I want people to cry, laugh and go through all the emotions."
