Preview
New York won over Brooklyn, 116-98, during their first preseason game held at the Madison Square Garden on Oct. 8.
Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis had been leading the charge for the Big Apple squad and they are expected to get better and continue their roles in the upcoming regular season.
Brandon Jennings is still starting at point guard as a fill-in for Derrick Rose, who is still dealing with a court trial in Los Angeles. Jennings has been ably covering the role and seemed to be thriving in his new environment with the Knicks.
The biggest problem for the Knicks right now is Rose's lack of practice time with the squad, which is crucial to build chemistry among the starting unit. Since he is still away fixing personal issues, the former league MVP has not been active with the team on the court since he played in their season-opener on Oct. 4 against Houston.
Rose earlier admitted that he finds the triangle offense complicated to pick-up, so it would be interesting to see how the Knicks will fare in the regular season using the said system with their starting point guard not fully knowledgeable about it.
Meanwhile, the Nets are horrible in the preseason with only one win to show in five games so far.
After beating Detroit in their preseason-opener on Oct. 6 with an outstanding game from new acquisition Jeremy Lin, the team had dropped four consecutive matches, including two straight against Boston in their last two games.
Head coach Kenny Atkinson's is still clearly lacking in preparation at the moment as they will try to rely on the combination of Lin and center Brook Lopez to keep them afloat moving forward.
Prediction
Another win for the Knicks against the Nets this preseason. Rose is not expected to suit up until their opening game versus the Cavaliers next week, but they are the better team than Brooklyn at this time.
