INFINITE lead rapper and dancer Dongwoo released his first self-composed song entitled "Embedded in Mind." The song is a collaboration with a popular webtoon.
The song was used as background music for a story arc in the webtoon "Lookism" by Park Tae Joon dealing with entertainment industry, AllKpop reported. The webtoon is a current serializing manga which started in 2015.
"Lookism" is a story about Park Hyung Suk, an overweight and unattractive person who is bullied and abused on a daily basis. However, a miracle is bound to happen which Park did not expect.
To celebrate the release of his song, Dongwoo took to Instagram a post thanking a bunch of people who made the release of his first single a successful one. The webtoon author also commented about the song and revealed that the song is not only relevant to the webtoon but also to Dongwoo and his late father.
It can be recalled that Dongwoo's father passed last September due to a chronic illness. As reported by Soompi, Dongwoo is in Japan when it happened and immediately returned to his family in Korea to participate in the funeral procedures.
In 2010, Dongwoo pre-debuted on Mnet's variety show "Infinite! You Are My Oppa" as main rapper of the group INFINITE. However, prior to his debut, he and Hoya already performed as back-up dancers in a various music promotion show for Epik High.
Also, the 25-year old rapper has been trained under JYP Entertainment for years and was a former schoolmate of EXO's Xiumin. On Feb. 15, 2013, Dongwoo graduated from Daekyung University under the program Practical Music and received the "Proud Daekyung University Student" award together with members Sunggyu, Hoya, Sungyeol and L.
Dongwoo also appeared on Baby Soul's song "She is a flirt (2012)" and Tasty's "MAMAMA (2013) along with band member Hoya. In 2015, Dongwoo landed a lead role in the musical titled "In the Heights" playing as Usnavi, a narrator of the play's exposition and an owner of a small bodega in Washington Heights.
