Chinese-Canadian singer and actor Wu Yifan, professionally known as Kris Wu, will be participating in 2016 NBA All-Star Celebrity Basketball Game. The 25-year-old former member of popular Chinese-South Korean boy band will play for Team Canada.
On Jan. 14, NBC revealed the two teams competing against each other in the basketball court. Wu posted a picture of two teams of the NBA All-Star Celebrity Basketball game on his Instagram account. He expressed his excitement to be on the field with other celebrities and wrote: "So excited to be invited to play celebrity game,cant wait to see you all on the court[得意] @NBA @NBAAllStar @champagnepapi @stephennash." Wu's Team Canada will be coached and led by rapper Drake, who will be assisted by retired professional basketball player Stephen Nash. Others joining them in the endeavour are tennis pro Milos Raonic, retired basketball player Rick Fox, vocalist and songwriter Win Butler, Drew and Jonathan Scott from "Property Brothers" and former NBA player Tracy McGrady and women's NBA player Natalie Achonwa.
According to Kpopstarz, Wu's team will play against the United States team led by American actor Kevin Hart. Hart has won NBA All-Star Celebrity Game four times. Joining Hart on the field are actors Michael B. Jordan, Jason Sudeikis, and Anthony Anderson. TV show host Nick Cannon, former basketball player Chauncey Billups, NBA players Muggsy Bogues, Elena Delle Donne and industrialist Marc Larcy will be playing for Team US, too.
Meanwhile, fans know that Wu, who holds a Canadian citizenship, started his career as the 11th member of EXO. Together, with the band, he released albums titled "XOXO," "Miracles in December" and "Overdose."
Soon, he went on to act in the movies and was first seen in the leading role in "Somewhere Only We Know." He will also be seen in 2016's "L.O.R.D: Legend of Ravaging Dynasties" and 2017 "Journey to the West 2."
2016 NBA All-Star Celebrity Basketball game will take place at 7:00 pm on Feb. 12. It will be aired live on ESPN.
