Manny Pacquiao puts his senator duties on the backseat as he prepares for his Jessie Vargas fight this November 5 in Las Vegas. Promoter Bob Arum said if Manny Pacquiao dominates, Golovkin is next.
Freshman Senator Pacquiao has been very busy balancing legislative duties with boxing trainings. Now that the Senate is on session, Pacquiao can finally focus on the other thing he's extremely good at and what the world first known him to be - boxing.
The boxer himself admitted that it was a difficult year for him since he committed to being present in every Senate session and train for the fight after. "You manage your time and that's what I did in training for this fight," Pacquiao said in an interview that ESPN reported.
Now that the Filipino boxer-turned-senator arrived in Los Angeles, he has nothing else to do but to give his all for his November 5 fight, which has been laden a mismatch controversy as many believed Vargas has no chance of winning against Pacquiao. This factor also made this fight a hard sell.
Bob Arum, on the other hand, thinks otherwise saying it is competitive regardless of what other people think. Moreover, he added that if Manny will dominate this fight and he doesn't think his two careers will not be too much for him, then he will be facing off Golovkin next, one of the most devastating punchers in boxing, Boxing News reported.
The prospect of a rematch between Pacquiao and Mayweather Jr. was also discussed on the table. After all, it was the richest fight in any sports history which left Manny's shoulder injured and Mayweather Jr. winning by unanimous decision.
Manny is not against the Mayweather Jr. rematch at all. For him, it is important to show the world that God gave him that talent. He wants to show the world that his quickness, his strength, and his speed are still intact.
Freddie Roach, Pacquiao's long time trainer, said the boxer has a different aggression now to the point that it seemed like the old Manny is coming out.
If he's looking to bring Mayweather Jr. out of retirement, Manny Pacquiao simply has to dominate his fight against Vargas.
