Nintendo rocked the gaming world with the recent announcement of "Switch." While it offers revolutionary gaming through hybrid experience of a regular console and mobile device, the gaming giant revealed that the upcoming console is not compatible with games released for 3DS and Wii U.
The latest console from Nintendo is set to challenge the gaming world once again as it aims to give gamers full experience not only through traditional large screens but even on mobile. But the revolutionary console has some relative drawback: no backwards compatibility. According to IGN Nintendo is very forward as of the moment as it plainly announced that the console will not have any compatibility with old games.
Nintendo recently announced that they will dedicate their games to single screen from now on - a big departure from Wii U as it uses two screens for additional interaction. The video presentation of Switch feature players playing on traditional console and immediately enjoying the game on mobile seamlessly.
The Japanese gaming giant recently revealed that they have to build custom software for the console. NVIDIA has also announced that have developed unique APIs specifically for the hardware to ensure smooth experience for gamers not only on traditional console but also on mobile.
But even with the custom software from Nintendo and API from NVIDIA, porting games is still a possibility according to Nintendo Life. It is also noted that tablets running the older processor and GPU from NVIDIA can easily handle emulated game for NS4 and Game Cube. The latest processor should handle the graphics demand of the old games although many modern games should be built from scratch.
Nintendo has yet to announce additional specifications of their groundbreaking console. But even though the gaming console from Nintendo remains a mystery, gamers don't have to wait soon for its arrival. Nintendo Switch will be available for the first time on March 2017.
The Japanese gaming giant who made some of the note-worthy games ever is joining the console wars with Nintendo Switch. Powered by NVIDIA, the device is expected to work smoothly even on mobile mode. Unfortunately, the Switch is not compatible to older game titles.
