Throughout the first half of "Mr. Robot" Season 1, fans thought that Whiterose, the leader of Chinese hacker group, the Dark Army, is a man. In Episode 8, the character made his first appearance where he was revealed to be a transgender woman.
Wong's character was again seen in "Mr. Robot" Season 1 finale post-credits scene. Here, he is seen dressed as a man having a discussion with the CEO of E Corp, Philip Price.
In Season 2, fans can expect to see more of Whiterose. It is said that Elliot Anderson will remain the central character, but Whiterose's storyline will continue to progress.
In an interview with Deadline, "Mr Robot's" creator talked about Wong's character and revealed that questions related to Whiterose will be answered. "I don't put anything in the show arbitrarily. It's not going to dominate the second season, but that topic will be addressed," Esmail said.
He even praised Wong's performance as a transgender character. "He was so amazing in the first season, I would be stupid not to use him more this season. But I have to use him sparingly," he added.
Meanwhile, Season 2 is expected to delve deeper into Elliot's backstory. In the meantime, he will be seen struggling to reconcile "with the fact that he's seeing this fantasy."
Premiere date for "Mr. Robot" Season 2 has not yet been announced. According to Christian Post, the show might go on air either late June or early July.
