South Korea's cultural legacies will be highlighted at the 2016 World Economic Forum Korea Night. Korean rapper Psy and the female singing group 2NE1 will perform in a holographic concert hosted by the Federation of Korean Industries.
Psy graced the World Economic Forum last year as goodwill ambassador for South Korea. His hit singles include "Gangnam Style" and "Daddy."
On the other hand, 2NE1 is one of the Korean girl groups that has gained legions of fans across the world with chart-topping songs like "Fire," "Can't Nobody," and "I Am The Best."
Formed by YG Entertainment, one of the three major talent management companies riding high on the K-pop phenomenon, 2NE1 is composed of CL, Dara, Minzy and Park Bom. Most of 2NE1's members are now carving their own career paths in the entertainment world.
The theme for the occasion, that will showcase the rich Korean culture, including food and technological innovations, is "K-Culture, Connect to the World."
In keeping with the times and the overall event theme, Psy and 2NE1's hologram concert will utilize digital technology, The Hankyoreh reported.
Last year's Korea Night event, which saw the convergence of 400 economic and political leaders, carried the theme of "a unified Korea and its infinite possibilities."
The 2015 Korea Night was well-attended. The Federation of Korean Industries posted on its official website last year that there was a sumptuous Korean feast laid out for guests that included 500 global leaders.
The attendees of the event, held at Morosani Schweizerhof Hotel, included Korea's Foreign Affairs Minister Byung Se Yoon, World Economic Forum Chair Klause Schwab, and FKI Chair Chang Soo Huh.
The World Economic Forum Annual meeting has drawn the participation, not just of political leaders, business tycoons, Nobelists, economic and environmental experts, but international celebrities.
Angelina Jolie and Emma Watson were among the celebrity speakers during open forums at Davos in past years.
People like to project onto Davos their hopes, fears and projections and plans as the world turns. At the heart of the agenda this year is the theme, "Mastering the Fourth Industrial Revolution."
Amidst the intense workshops, non-stop networking, speeches and presentations, an evening that will herald Korea's culture and economy to a global audience is among the interesting sidelines at the World Economic Forum.
