While developer Messhoff initially announced the release of "Nidhogg 2" for the PC, just recently a PS4 version has been official as well. "Nidhogg 2" is the sequel to the multiplayer fighting game that will be released on 2017.
"Nidhogg 2" multiplayer gameplay and features
According to Dualshockers, "Nidhogg 2" - the sequel to the 2014 side scrolling sword fighting game, "Nidhogg" - a multiplayer game where two players compete against each other. After winning the duel, "you can run ahead toward your side of the screen," according to the PlayStation Blog. The blog continues: "Watch out, because your opponent will respawn in front of you and try to take back control of the camera. Make it all the way to the end to sacrifice yourself to the flying worm called Nidhogg!"

PlayStation Lifestyle also reports that the "Nidhogg 2" adds new items and weapons to the arsenal such as throwing knives, bow and arrows, giant axes, head stomps, and new levels (10+ overall), along with the game's new soundtrack, improved animations, and an updated art style. The studio's co-founder Kristy Norindr discussed more about the new weapons in detail:
"'Nidhogg 2' is not just about dueling with swords - this time you can wail on your friends with a bow and arrow, toss a throwing knife in their groin, or cleave them in half with a battle-axe! Each weapon has its own unique playstyle. The axe is a bit slower but has nice range and is unblockable. The throwing knife is the only weapon that can be thrown low. The bow and arrow is obviously great at long range, but arrows are easily blocked or dodged and you can run out. With all the different dynamics between weapons there are many more strategies and matches can play out in lots more different ways."
"Nidhogg 2's" different modes of gameplay and playable during Day of the Devs
"Nidhogg 2" will be accommodating different modes of play once it's released. The game will be having local and online multiplayer, a single-player mode versus the AI, and a tournament mode. PlayStation Blog also revealed that "Nidhogg 2" will be accessible at Day of the Devs that's held in San Francisco this weekend.
