BlizzCon 2016 has had a lot of reveals ever since its opening. One of them was surprisingly announcing additional upcoming content for "StarCraft 2."
Blizzcon introduces the War Chest to "Starcraft 2"
According to Gamespot, Blizzcon mentioned that "Starcraft 2" will be having a special bundle called War chest, which is described "as a purchasable 'virtual treasure map' that grants you new content as you play the game." If players get to play StarCraft more frequently, they'll get to earn more of these contents. Each season will spawn their own unique content.
Blizzard is planning to host two seasons annually that are both connected to the major esports event. The portion of the sales from the purchases of the War Chase will directly support the esports initiatives.
Content-wise, the War Chest for "StarCraft 2" will faction-related skins like the Tal'darim, Primal Zerg, and Terran mercenaries. Along with those are Digital Comics that are said to be released each season. More news on this will be available early next year.
"Starcraft 2" introduces its new Co-Op commander Alexei Stukov
"StarCraft 2's" cooperative mode will also have a new commander, Alexei Stukov. The character first appeared in the "Heart of the Swarm" campaign and is a Zerg-infested Terran. Alexei will be bringing units like an infested Siege Tank with tentacles and mechanics that are a hybrid of both Zerg and Terran.
New Co-Op Maps: "Miner Evacuation" and "Dead by Night"
There are two additional maps that are planned for cooperative play, according to VG 24/7. The first to be discussed is called "Miner Evacuation." Players are tasked to protect the innocent denizens (miners mostly) from infested units as they evacuate from the planet. The second map is "Dead by Night," which is a Left2Die map reincarnated. It's basically like the original 2011 map, albeit with co-op mode with updated features. It'll also have same day-night cycle and the mutant infestation.
To add to the features like new maps and commander, players can get to see their mission scores and check the Co-op Mission Leaderboards to compare said scores with friends online.
Third and Final "Nova Covert Ops" Mission
Adding to those news bits is the final episode of "Nova Covert Ops," Mission Pack 3. Being titled as "Nova: The Keep," the mission is set briefly after the events of "Legacy of the Void." The mission will be released on Nov. 22 and a new comic will be released along with it.
