"Descendants of the Sun" actor Song Joong Ki's fan meeting contractor company has sued the event organizers in Hong Kong for alleged non-payment. The company is suing for 9.6 million Hong Kong dollars ($1.2 million USD).

Hong Kong entertainment company in-charge of the production and promotion for "2016 Song Joong Ki Asia Tour Fan Meeting" has filed a lawsuit against the event organizer company for allegedly not paying 9.6 million Hong Kong dollars ($1.2 million USD) to the entertainment company. The payment is said to be for Joong Ki's eight fan meeting which he had participated between May and July.

Agency of the 31-year old actor has responded to the issue. "This is unrelated to our company, but when we looked into the news from Hong Kong, it seemed as if there was a misunderstanding... The Asia Tour fan meetings were participated by many companies from Taiwan, China, and Hong Kong. The Hong Kong promotion company changed their company name and miscommunications occurred," Allkpop quoted Blossom Entertainment as saying.

The agency further revealed that fan meeting payments have already been paid off. Stressing that the lawsuit would be dropped sometime today.

Meanwhile, Joong Ki has an upcoming film "Battleship Island," co-starring South Korean actors Hwang Jung-min and So Ji-sub. Set in an occupation-era, the film is about an attempted prison break from a forced labor camp on Hashima Island.

In a report by Yonhap news, Joong Ki said he had to lose a lot of weight for the movie since the role requires the character to look exhausted. "I am walking a lot because I have to lose a lot weight," Joong Ki revealed.

In the movie, Joong Ki plays the role of an independent fighter named Park Moo-yeong, who will infiltrate the island in order to rescue a key figure in the independence movement who was held captive in the island. A group of about 400 Joseon workers risk their lives in an attempt to escape from Hashima, and the story of forced labor in the island.

"Battleship Island" is slated for release in early 2017.
