"Narcos" has added a new character on its upcoming third season on Netflix.
According to Deadline, the cartel drama has recruited "Pretty Little Liars" actor Nicholas Gonzalez to play a pivotal character on "Narcos" Season 3. Gonzales has been tapped to take on the role of Lopez, an American DEA agent described as capable and experienced. The actor will appear on a recurring basis throughout the new installment.
Gonzales, who recurs on "Pretty Little Liars" as Det. Vic Furey, also played a key character on "The Flash" as the older brother of Cisco. He currently stars on the CW's new series, "Frequency." His other TV credits include "Bordertown," "Bones" and "Jane the Virgin."
Gonzales joins previously announced new series regular, Kerry Bishe (Halt and Catch Fire) on "Narcos" Season 3. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bishe will play an American woman named Christina in the new season. Viewers will learn that Christina's Colombian husband is involved in the cartel, an arc which will drive her to run for help in the US embassy to escape.
After focusing on Medellin's notorious drug lord, Pablo Escobar on its first two seasons, "Narcos" will move forward to explore another drug cartel in the new episodes. Season 3 will pick up following the death of Escobar and will shift its spotlight on the Cali Cartel.
Among the original cast members, actor Pedro Pascal has been confirmed to reprise his role as Agent Pena. It is yet to be determined if Boyd Holbrook will return as Pena's partner, Murphy.
"Narcos" Season 3 is slated to premiere sometime in 2017.
