After joining the "Agents of SHIELD" universe on its current fourth season, talks of a possible spin-off series for Ghost Rider has been confirmed.
Actor Gabriel Luna, the portrayer of the Spirit of Vengeance, has revealed to ComicBook.com about the latest development from the MCU. However, Luna said that the offshoot project is being eyed to be either a television series or a movie.
"It's been talked about, there's definitely deals in place for that potential," said the actor.
"But I just take it one day at a time. I have so much fun now I just want to make sure I get these episodes right. If they throw more episodes on my plate, I will do my best to do well with those stories as well."
Marvel is currently in the works of developing more TV series based on its iconic comic book characters. Some of the previously announced projects for the company include "The Punisher" on Netflix, "Damage Control" on ABC, "The Runaways" on Hulu and "Cloak and Dagger" on Freeform. There was even a plan to develop a Mockingbird spinoff, but ABC opted not to push through with the project.
Now that there are talks of a potential Ghost Rider film or series, it will be interesting to see how this discussion plays out. Luna's performance on "Agents of SHIELD" has been remarkable and his dynamic with Quake is awesome. It is likely that Marvel saw that great chemistry early on that's why we're hearing about this now.
Marvel, for their part, has not yet commented about the matter.
Ghost Rider aka Johnathon Blaze was first introduced in the Marvel comics on August 1972. His origin of transforming into the Ghost Rider happened after his father figure, Crash, passed away. That night, he found himself transformed into a skeletal being with a flaming skull.
While he initially feared that this demonic spirit was a manifestation of his dark side, he soon realized that he had formed a bond with some wholly separate entity.
