Conviction's future is looking dark. Several reports are saying that the legal drama starring "Agent Carter" star, Hayley Atwell just got cancelled by ABC.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network has decided not to order the back nine episodes of "Conviction." In primetime network tradition, this means that the show did not get a full-season order. When a network is no longer interested in seeing more episodes, it usually means that the show is already cancelled.
While this is the case, the network did not confirm anything. They are telling various sources that the show is sticking around on its 10PM Monday night spot, and will still air the remaining episodes of its 13-episode first season.
Series star Merrin Dungey, for her part, addressed Conviction's future on a Twitter post. According to the actress who plays Maxine Bohen, the show "isn't cancelled," and that they are just doing only 13 episodes this year. Dungey explained that she has talked to a couple of bosses from the network and urged the fans to trust her words.

Still, this does not guarantee anything. As long as the network has not made any official announcements, fans of "Conviction" should not keep their hopes up. The show's ratings are also not doing great either, which is one of the main factors why networks pull the plug on both new and returning shows.
If the series gets officially cancelled, it will join fellow freshman series Notorious among the shows that will likely get axed from the 2016-2017 TV season.
"Conviction" also stars Manny Montana, Emily Kinney, Eddie Cahill and Shawn Ashmore.
