Chinese actor Dai Xiangyu has announced that he will be tying the knot with actress Chen Zihan in Spain, on Dec. 9. The news comes four months after the couple was hit by third-party rumors.
"Want to let the whole world know I'm marrying you (heart emoticon)," The Straits Times quoted the 32-year-old actor as saying on Weibo on Nov. 9, Wednesday. The "Lost in the Pacific" and Zihan will be getting hitched in the beautiful Spanish city of Barcelona in the presence of friends and family.
Zihan, previously known as Chen Shasha, also reposted Xiangyu's post with some words of her own. "Love gives us courage to go the distance," Today Online quoted the 38-year-old actress as saying. "I am looking forward to the 9th of December where you'll be giving me the purest wedding ceremony."
Xiangyu shot to fame in Singapore with the 2008 period drama "The Little Nyonya" but later moved back to China to further his acting career. His wedding with the "Legendary Amazons" actress will be a private affair with only 60 guests expected to attend the event. The couple, who have a six-year age gap between them, will host a larger reception in Beijing on Dec. 19.
Xiangyu and Zihan first met on the set of the Chinese drama "Pearl Earrings" and have been together for over a year. They have also co-starred in other dramas including "Singles Villa," "The Girl Wearing Tassel Earrings" and "Demon Girl." The pair shocked fans in May when they announced that they had already registered their marriage.
Two months after news of their marriage broke, rumors started emerging that Zihan was the third woman and Xiangyu was already married to Chinese actress Li Yixuan. The actor later dismissed these reports, stating that he that he wishes to live a "peaceful and quiet life" with his wife and there was no third or fourth woman in the equation.
