It is considerably a big start for Blackpink earlier this year citing the new Kpop performance created a bombastic debut on the charts. The all-female group has returned and deserved for themselves another first while anchoring on numerous other Billboard charts with their extended play and new singles.
Twice did Blackpink have their No. 1 on the World Digital Songs having 4,000 tracks sold with their new single "Playing With Fire." The sorrowful dance track lightly outpace the group's other single, titled "Stay" which is an acoustic country inspired song that sold almost 3,000 copies and jumps on the chart at the No. 4 slot, Billboard reported.
The chart performance is comparable to when Blackpink introduced in August a different pair of singles. The extra up-tempo "Boombayah" primarily overtook the kind of gloomier "Whistle," that debuted at No. 2 while "Boombayah" landed at the No. 1 spot. However, this week, "Whistle" soars ahead as it leaps to No. 8 from No. 15 of last week while "Boombayah" slips to No. 16 from Nov. 14.
Blackpink is aware that they have many competitors in the music industry that's many people cannot help compare them with other female groups. Amid the YG Entertainment's most recent girl group interview, the members talked about the senior group, 2NE1 and how they are influenced, according to KpopMusic.
One of the group's member, Lisa, said, "We are in the same agency as 2NE1 and we get our songs from the same producers. The influence is natural. Since they have done a lot of things before us, we would like to emulate them. At the same time, we hope that there will be a chance for us to show our own unique color. We would like to succeed with our own unique color."
The group was introduced in August with the "Square One" album containing the tracks "Boombayah" and "Whistle." Their latest comeback album, "Square Two" consist the tracks "Playing with Fire" and "Stay."
