Marvel TV has a new offering with the announcement of an "Inhumans" tv series.
The show based on the royal family of "Inhumans" will debut its first two episodes on September 2017 in IMAX. The advanced episodes will be screened two weeks before its TV premiere, Marvel reported.
The news comes after ABC and Marvel decided not to move forward with other Marvel TV projects such as "Agent Carter" and "S.H.I.E.L.D" spinoff, "Marvel's Most Wanted" and comedy series "Damage Control," Screen Rant reported. Originally, Marvel wanted "The Inhumans" to be part of the MCU films slated for a 2018 release.
Since Marvel struck a deal with Sony to get "Spider-Man" on board with the MCU, the studio decided to quietly cancel "Inhumans." Earlier, Marvel boss Kevin Feige hinted at the change when he said that despite the cancellation, Marvel is still very much invested in the characters of the "Inhuman" royal family.
In the comic books, Inhumans are genetically advanced human race created by the Kree. Inhumans are regular human beings until they undergo "Terrigenesis," a transformative phase, after which their alien genes will be activated and they will get powers. Specifically, the comic books focused on the adventures of the Inhuman king, Black Bolt and his family consisting of Medusa, Karnak, Triton, Gorgon, Maximus the Mad, Crystal and Lockjaw.
"Inhumans" now forms part of the classes of heroes within the MCU after having been introduced during the second season of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."
