"Jurassic World 2" has been confirmed to start production in March 2017, for a possible release in June 2018. According to its new director Juan Antonio Bayona, the new movie will be considered as "Jurassic Park 5" and "Jurassic World 2."
Colin Trevorrow's Jurassic World was a huge hit raking in a total of $1.67 billion dollars worldwide, ComicBook reported. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will be back as Owen Grady and Gale Dearing. Toby Jones who played Dr. Arnim Zola in "Captain America: The First Avenger" and Rafe Spall from Hot Fuzz will be the new additions for the latest movie in the Dinosaur sci-fi thriller.
Director Bayona didn't say much about the film and tried to be as vague as possible, but he said it was going to be a very personal film for him, /Film reported. According to Trevorrow and Bayona, the new movie will be darker and scarier than its predecessor. Trevorow also said that the movie will tackle issues on animal cruelty, which probably means audiences will be seeing militarized raptors and other dinosaurs.
According to Bayona, Jurassic World 2 will be a collaborative movie where he has to work closely with Trevorrow, Steven Spielberg and Frank Marshall. After all, the entire franchise is their baby. Though Jurassic World referenced the original Jurassic Park, it still serves as a reboot, where new characters and challenges are introduced. Bayona also said there will be more connections between Jurassic World and Jurassic Park in the new movie.
He said that one of the main challenges to making the film is to bring what the fans expect from a Jurassic Park movie, but at the same time bringing something fresh and new to the movie. According to Bayona, the new film, whatever it ends up being called will be the second chapter to Jurassic World. It will also pave the way to continue the story for a third installment to the Jurassic World franchise.
Jurassic World was released 20 years after the first Jurassic Park. Fans of the original movie got a lot of nostalgic moments from the new Jurassic World movie. These references can definitely be expected for Jurassic World 2, but with fresh new ideas featured in the sequel.
