"I can tell you that I will be kicking butt a little bit - that is something I believe that they're clever about," Yen said about his role in "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story." "Instead of just having me in there riding around in a Y-wing or an X-wing and shooting laser beams, they've got to have me do something," he added.
During the interview, Yen revealed that 1977's "Star Wars" movie was the first movie he saw in a theatre. While remembering the time he sat there in the theatre watching the movie, he said that he thought, "one day, I'll be a part of this.'"
The 52-year-old actor refrained from revealing details from the movie and quickly changed the topic. Besides Yen, the movie stars Felicity Jones, Riz Ahmed, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitetaker, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Mads Mikkelson, Jonathan Aris, Alan Tudyk and more.
Helmed by Gareth Edwards, the script of the Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures movie has been penned by Gary Whitta and Chris Weitz. It is said that the movie depicts the events that occurred before the "Revenge of the Sith" and after "A New Hope." The official synopsis for the movie is yet to be revealed. However, rumours suggest the appearance of Darth Vader.
Yen is also noted for his work in Hong Kong martial arts biopics "Ip Man." Recently, the third sequel of the series was released wherein he fought Mike Tyson. "When I fight him on screen, I told myself I had to have a (backup) plan because if something goes wrong, I'm going to get killed. He's coming at me like a train," talking about fighting with Mike Tyson in "Ip Man 3," Yen said
Recently, he spoke about Hong Kong action movies in the USA. "Some of the films we do in this part of the world are not maximized to their potential" in the USA, the actor said as quoted by USA Today. He hopes things will change with time.
