Steve Kerr speaks his mind about NBA officials in an interview with a Bay area radio. His criticism about the game officials made the NBA imposed a $25,000 fine upon him.
Kerr coach threw his frustration over the lack of traveling call during NBA games in an interview with KNBR 680 radio on Thursday, Nov. 17, as reported by CSN Bay Area. He complained that everybody except the referee sees the traveling violation in the court.
"How is it that everybody on Earth can see these traveling violations except for the three people that we pay to do the job? I don't get it. It's bizarre," Kerr said.
He also clarified that his players also conducted traveling violations very often, so his criticism is not about his team the Golden State Warrriors alone. But this is about the foundation of the basketball game. He mentioned his favorite scene that when a player from the visiting team made a traveling and all fans in the stadium made a traveling signal, but referees made no call.
Following his rant. NBA imposed a $25,000 for "public criticism of officiating" on Sunday, according to USA Today.The decision was announced in a news release from the NBA executive vice president of basketball operations Kiki Van DeWeghe.
Kerr is a respected coach in the NBA as he won the championship in his first year of coaching. He has developed a system which combine the element of Phil Jackson's triangle offense and Gregg Popovich's small ball movement with an uptempo principle, which makes a high scoring Golden State Warriors. Prior to his head coaching job, Kerr was a TNT NBA analyst and a general manager for Phoenix Suns.
Golden State Warrios is doing very well this season with a 11-2 records and a seven straight winning. Nevertheless, Kerr is not happy with the NBA officials and his complaints showed how irritated he is with the quality of the officials in the league. He choose to made his views be known to the public.
