Just a few days before the 2016 Mnet Asian Music Awards, YG Entertainment announced none of their artists will be attending the annual event on Dec. 2. However, to avoid misunderstandings on the decision, the label released an official statement to explain the matter.
In a report by Allkpop, YG Entertainment stated their schedule as the main reason for the decision of not participating in the upcoming 2016 Mnet Asian Music Awards. Currently, the label is being caught up with their preparations for the comeback of Sechskies, Psy and BIGBANG which are all due in December.
"MAMA opened up online voting on December 1, and we don't know if there's the possibility of winning an award yet. However, even if we do get invited, it's been decided that it would be impossible to prepare a performance for the award show," YG Entertainment explained.
YG Entertainment is a home for popular artists like 2NE1, iKon, BLACKPINK, WINNER, Akdong Musician and a lot more. The agency emphasized the decision to miss this year's Mnet Asian Music Awards is not caused by any misunderstanding or conflict.
In addition, the decision is only limited to the 2016 Mnet Asian Music Awards, which means YG artists will still be attending other award ceremonies before the year ends.
Meanwhile, BLOCK B's Zico, Crush and Dean are confirmed to perform in the upcoming 2016 Mnet Asian Music Awards. According to Soompi, the trio will be performing their new music in the annual event.
Previously, the BLOCK B member announced they will drop the new song on Nov. 28. Zico, Crush and Dean's trio, also known as Fancy Child, was bound because of a common factor: music.
Despite YG Entertainment's nonparticipation, there are still plenty of reasons to be excited for the annual event, right? Watch out for your favorite artists in the 2016 Mnet Asian Music Awards on Dec. 2.
