Lead actress of tvN's latest hit drama "The K2" will host the upcoming "2016 Women in Film Awards." YoonA will host the award all by herself.
Familiar to hosting award ceremonies, YoonA will be standing on stage as the solo host of the event. As an actress and singer herself, YoonA is a consequential addition to the "2016 Women Film Awards," Allkpop reported.
Not only recognizing actresses who made an impression in the movie scene this past year, the event will also recognize female filmmakers as well. The awards will include recognition for producers, directors, playwrights, documentarians, actresses, rookie actresses, marketers, and more. "2016 Women in Film Awards" will be held on Dec. 7 at the ARTNINE in Seoul, South Korea.
Im Yoon-ah better known by the mononym YoonA, debuted as member of the girl group Girl's Generation in August 2007. But apart from her group's activities, the 26-year old actress participated in various television dramas particularly in "You Are My Destiny (2008)."
Just this year, her tvN drama "The K2" where she plays as the illegitimate daughter of a presidential candidate and a famous star wrapped up with a 5.5 percent viewership rating. The rating is exceptionally high for a drama series airing in a cable channel.
The drama earned positive reviews and praises for its action sequences and performances. According to Naver TV, male lead actor Ji Chang Wook became the highest-paid actor for a tvN drama.
"The K2" is depicted with a bodyguard action theme and utilized various fighting techniques for its action scenes. To properly portray his role for the drama, the 29-year old actor even had a special training and performed the action stunts in the drama all by himself, without a body double.
