American rapper Wiz Khalifa will perform in "2016 Mnet Asian Music Awards." Joining the list are the K-pop idols Suzy and Baekhyun who will perform "Dream" during the awards night.
On Nov. 24, during the press conference for the "2016 MAMA," a representative of the award ceremony presented Khalifa, saying, "He is an artist who took No. 1 on Billboards Single Top 100 chart with "Black and Yellow," Allkpop reported.
The representative further revealed that a collaboration between Khalifa and a K-pop artist will happen during ceremony. In Korea, Khalifa is known for the "Fast and Furious" OST titled "See You Again."
EXO member Baekhyun and Miss A's Suzy will also perform at the ceremony. The two K-pop idols will be performing their hit single "Dream" which was release earlier this year.
This is the first time that the two idols will perform their hit single during the ceremony. In a report by Soompi, Director Kang of CJ E&M revealed, "There have been so many songs this year, but rather than a simple featuring, I think two different people collaborating is beautiful."
"Dream" is an R&B song with jazz and neo soul sounds and lyrics about a couple falling in love. One of the song's composers Park Geun-tae unveiled that he had been working on the song for two years, and that it took one year to convince both singers to participate in its production.
This year's Mnet Asian Music Awards hosted by CJ E&M will commence on Dec. 2 at AsiaWord-Expo in Hong Kong. Commonly abbreviated as MAMA, the award ceremony is one of the major K-pop music awarding ceremonies held annually through its music channel Mnet.
The ceremony involves the participation of some of the most renowned actors and celebrities, not only in South Korea, but also in other countries such as China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, Canada, and the United States.
