"Paper Towns" star Nat Wolff and "The Legend of Tarzan" actor Alexander Skarsgård are joining the feature adaptation of war documentary thriller "The Kill Team." "Extremis" filmmaker Dan Krauss will write and direct this version of his documentary.
According to Variety, Wolff will play an ambitious young soldier Specialist Adam Winfield in "The Kill Team." His character falls under the spell of a charismatic new squad leader Sergeant Deeks (Skarsgård). He pleaded guilty in 2011 to involuntary manslaughter, was sentenced to three years in prison, and was released in August 2012.
In the plot of "The Kill Team," when a young Afghan farmer is killed under murky circumstances, Winfield's admiration becomes increasingly tainted. When he attempts to pull away from the group, he is dragged into a dangerous match of psychological warfare with his own brothers in arms.
"The Kill Team" is based on the true events. It revolves around a young American soldier trapped between his conscience and survival when members of his platoon carry out a murderous scheme in the wasteland of Southern Afghanistan.
Wolff starred in Temple Hill-produced film "The Fault in Our Stars," alongside Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort. Skarsgård starred as John 'Tarzan' Clayton in David Yates' "The Legend of Tarzan" with Margot Robbie. Both are repped by CAA, and Wolff is also repped by Untitled Entertainment, Deadline reported.
"The Kill Team" is produced by Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey for Temple Hill Entertainment. Cornerstone Films will oversee international sales and distribution. They will introduce to the buyers at the American Film Market.
"The Kill Team" is currently in pre-production. UTA and CAA will jointly represent North American rights.
