Big, wavy lock is part of the package that makes Victoria's Secret Fashion Models the most beautiful creatures on the planet. Aside from their impossible-to-achieve perfect bodies, and their big sweet smiles, the Angels do not walk that runway without their big fake hair. This year it's about to change.
The company receives so much bad criticisms from spiteful groups for promoting unnaturally perfect images that millions of girls worldwide try very hard to follow but miserable fail to do so. Now, the company took inspiration from one of its models who was so bold to grace the catwalk last year with her natural hair, Refinery 29 reported.
That model was Maria Borges. She made history at the Victoria's Secret 2015 Show with her au naturel Afro. This year, the global brand is embracing every model's natural hair texture ditching the extensions that over the years made the Angels look heavenly.
Sarah Potempa, the creator of Beachwaver and also the Angel's official hairstylist, said that all 51 Angels will walk down that runway with their natural hair. They will walk with the most natural look they woke up with.
Potempa said they want to embrace everyone's natural beauty and she guaranteed she will make all 51 women feel their most beautiful versions of themselves. According to Potempa, if some women have a short hair, then she will walk with that hair. They're not going to put any extension or wig over it to make it look longer, Elite Daily reported.
However, it doesn't mean these natural heads will not be styled with curling irons or hairsprays. Many of the naturally wavy-haired Angels will still wear their wavy hair but with variations. Potempa will be using at least three Beachwaver irons to best enhance their natural locks.
While the company is making a huge step to a more inclusive view of beauty, it still has a long way to go when it comes to hiring plus size models and more diverse casting next time. VS fans will get a lot of heart from fans for establishing the fact that huge hair is not a prerequisite to looking beautiful.
Moreover, fans will see all of these on Sunday Dec. 5, 10PM on CBS.
