During an interview for "Two Men," Minho had the chance to talk about how the people reacted when he entered the acting industry.
The SHINee member said he was not spared of criticisms when he started acting. However, Minho decided to take those disapprovals as an inspiration in improving his craft as an actor, Soompi cited.
"Even from my point of view, I more than deserved those criticisms. I struggled a lot in my first lead role on "To The Beautiful You," but looking back, it is because of that past that I have confidence now, so I definitely don't consider it a taint on my history," Minho said.
He also shared his realizations after playing his first big role, stating that a lead does not only gives his best shot as the lead actor, but also someone who works well with his co-actors.
"I should have paid more attention to the other things, but I focused too much on myself, and it resulted in me just awkwardly standing out. But I learned a lot from that, and it was "medicine' for me," the SHINee member added.
Minho admitted criticisms were an eye-opener to him to do even better as an actor. In fact, Minho starred "Two Men" with actor Ma Dong Seok. The Korean film finally hit the theaters on Nov. 30.
Allkpop reported the SHINee member has to learn how to smoke for his character in the film. He even admitted he was hesitant to do it, however, Minho changed his mind and accepted the challenge of completing the task.
"Every time I smoked, I thought, "This is not me smoking. It's Jin Il who's smoking." And what was helpful is not only did I get to learn from it, but I felt like I became [closer] with my character," he said.
The SHINee member added the hardest challenge was to quit smoking after the filming. Minho said he almost gave up on the idea that he can stop smoking; nonetheless, the actor has managed to quit smoking permanently.
