Wiz Khalifa is presently asserting that Girls' Generation Taeyeon lied about her reasons for scratching off their collaborative performance. The two artists are previously set to perform their own rendition of "See You Again" on "2016 Mnet Asian Music Awards (2016 MAMA)."
Earlier, Khalifa expressed his surprised and disappointment when Taeyeon backed out of their performance for "2016 MAMA." The 27-year old K-pop artist then explained her side through her Instagram story post, citing audio issues as an explanation.
However, on Dec. 3, Khalifa revealed a new claim which caught many fans off-guard. In his Twitter post, the American rapper said, "She claimed she had to go to the hospital the night before. Did the practice. Asked to be on a different stage than me then cancelled," as reported by Koreaboo.
One of the rapper's fans then commented, saying that the rapper is very well in presentation which matters most, not what Taeyeon did. Consequently, Khalifa responded in affirmation.
Hours after Khalifa's claim, the Girls' Generation member responded through another video on her Instagram story. The video was captioned as, "I didn't go to the hospital my friend... I was washing up at this time while waiting for you," as translated by Allkpop.
After Taeyeon's response, it now appears that the K-pop artist was actually waiting for Khalifa instead. With their recent post exchanges, fans are now more confused as ever on why their collaboration for "2016 MAMA" was cancelled.
It is worth noting that Khalifa and Taeyeon are set to perform their own rendition of "See You Again" during "2016 MAMA." Being one of the major K-pop music awarding ceremonies, "2016 MAMA" is held annually by CJ E&M through its music channel Mnet. This year's MAMA took place at the AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong.
