Latest rumors have emerged that the Sacramento Kings could send DeMarcus Cousins to the Phoenix Suns for Brandon Knight and rookie Dragan Bender.
Cousins' name mentioned in trade rumors is not a new thing as the 26-year-old All-Star center has been in the rumor mill since last year.
Despite having a strong season averaging 29.1 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game, Cousins is still being linked to different clubs as the Kings continue to struggle as a team. Sacramento is currently 10th in the Western Conference with an 8-13 record, three games behind the last playoffs spot held by the Portland Trail Blazers.
Hoops Hype suggested that the Kings should trade Cousins before this season's February trade deadline "if they want to receive anywhere close to comparable value in return" as the former Wildcat's contract is set to expire in the summer of 2018.
Recently, there are rumors swirling that he could be sent to the Suns as a potential trade piece that would bring Knight and Bender to Sacramento, as per HNGN. According to the report, the Suns may also include two future first-round draft picks in the package to obtain Cousins.
In losing Cousins, the Kings are set to receive perhaps the starting point guard that they have been searching for in Knight and a young big man with a lot of upside in Bender. The two future picks make the deal sweeter as Sacramento can use them to re-tool their roster or go on a full rebuild if they want to.
Meanwhile, the Suns will get a legitimate All-Star big man to their side, something that the club had also been looking for in quite a while. It will also be a reunion between Cousins and starting point guard Eric Bledsoe, who were college teammates in Kentucky from 2009 to 2010, if the trade pushes through.
Phoenix could also potentially develop a young Big Three of Cousins, Bledsoe, and 20-year-old sophomore Devin Booker that could take the Suns back into contention in the West moving forward.
