Korea's phenomenal movie 'Train to Busan' gets a Hollywood remake

Here ye "Train to Busan" fans, the smash hit film is going to have a remake by Studio Gaumont. The notable production company acquired the creative rights on Wednesday to produce an English version of Korea's phenomenal movie expecting to make waves in the Hollywood movie industry.

Even though Studio Gaumont used to produce French-language projects it is also engaged in producing several distinguished English-language movies, including "The Fifth Element" and "Leon: The Professional". A rep from the entertainment studio mentioned that everyone fell in love with "Train to Busan" at the 69th Cannes Film Festival and its distinctiveness would resound with American audiences.

According to Dramabeans, "Train to Busan" chief investor NEW Company's CEO Kim Woo-taek, stated, "I'm happy to be collaborating with the best French film studio, Gaumont that has had a record of success with various international productions. Through this opportunity, I hope that Korean movies will gain more exposure with international audiences."

Gaumont's acquisition to "Train to Busan" creative rights isn't cheap which reached to seven figures which resulted from the bidding battle triggered by the film's significant success in its home domain. People in charge of international sales as well as the distribution of Korea's phenomenal movie, Danny Lee and Vincent Kim at Contents Panda, arranged the deal with the head of International Production and Distribution, on behalf of Gaumont, Cecile Gaget, Deadline reported.

The apocalyptic shocker "Train to Busan" hit Korean theaters on July 22 and incepted a whopping $81.3 million during its first five days of the opening which is considered an all-time record at the Korean box office. In America, Well Go USA distributed the original title on a controlled release that generated $1.8 million.

"Train to Busan" was directed by Yeon Sang-ho and starred Gong Yoo (stars in The Lonely Shining Goblin), a single dad in the movie who risked his life for his daughter for her to make it safely to Busan where her mother awaits.
