Twitch, one of the most famous streaming services for games is holding a gaming event on Monday, December 12, starting at 4 p.m. at The White House. The U.S. government will be working with Twitch to promote awareness on how important having a health insurance is in America.
According to Digital Trends, the event will have professional and famous gamers join the live streaming tournament to let everyone know how crucial having a health insurance is. The public could watch this gaming event via Twitch's site and they would learn more about Obamacare. The programming manager of Twitch, Anna Prosser Robinson will be hosting this event.
Part of the event's agenda includes matches for the Rocket League Pro-Am, which will be commentated by Gootecks and Goldenboy. There is also a scheduled competition between Justin Wong and Mike Ross for the Street Fighter V duel. All the other itineraries of the said gaming event haven't been disclosed yet, but Twitch is about to announce them on their website before Monday.
Gamasutra also reported this gaming event saying this is the first time a video game competition would be broadcasted live from the White House. However, this is not the first time that the White House has hosted gaming events like this because everybody in the gaming world knew about last year's National Climate Game Jam. Its purpose was to create awareness regarding climate change.
Moreover, Twitch's Product Marketing Manager, Brian Petrocelli was grateful for the White House in recognizing the power and passion of the gamers' community. The government's involvement with this project just showed how concern they are not just about the subject of health care but the lives of the younger generation.
Gamers and Twitch users are encouraged to mark their calendars to not miss this event. Here is the link to the live streaming video for this rare competitive gaming marathon. www.twitch.tv/GetCovered
