Los Angeles Clippers was clueless to deal with Golden State Warriors’ gameplay in their first game this season. As the Warriors defeated the them casually, the question about the truth of their rivalry arose. Is it real or just a concoction?
Clippers was clearly overwhelmed by the Warriors gameplay. Head coach Doc Rivers was at a loss to overcome Steve Kerr’s strategy. The Clippers lost 98-115 on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at the Staples Center, Los Angeles, even though the Warriors’ players did not play in their best form.
The game result showed that rivalry between LA Clippers and Golden State Warriors is just fabricated according to SF Gate. This season’s lack of competition against the Warriors made such fabrication become necessary to gain attention.
During the game between the two teams with the best records in the Western Conference, the Warriors were dominating LA Clippers. Trace of the mighty Clippers who defeated the champion Cleveland Cavaliers few days earlier vanished. Steve Kerr’s strategy in defense was successful to stop Clippers ball distribution, making the players to make their play. This could be seen in the number of assists tallied by LA Clippers with only 15 assists.
Meanwhile the Warriors made more assists by twofold with 32 assists. Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green made 17 assists. While the rest of the team contributed the assists distribution.
The game showed how Clippers was unable to live up the expectation as one of the best team in Western Conference. According to Los Angeles Times, the Clippers now officially reached its first detour into doubt after beginning the season with 14 wins in 16 games. Now they have 17-7 records after crushing New Orleans Pelicans 133-105 on Saturday night Dec. 10.
