YG artists G-Dragon and CL made it to the "2016 HYPEBEAST 100," making them the only Korean celebrities to be listed in the annual ranking of innovators from various fields all over the globe.
According to Soompi, this is not the first time G-Dragon landed on the list. Reports claimed the BIGBANG member was also selected among other innovators in 2013 and 2015.
Under G-Dragon's profile on the "2016 HYPEBEAST 100," it stated, "If you're at all familiar with k-pop, it's likely that G-Dragon is the first name that comes to mind." The description also said the BIGBANG member was featured in the cover of HYPEBEAST Magazine in 2014.
Meanwhile, 2NE1's CL also made to the list for the first time for her contribution to the American fashion and music industries. The idol was branded as "a household name for Koreans and K-Pop fans."
The description also stated CL made her debut in the United States this year with the release of her single titled "LIFTED." In October, the 2NE1 member kicked off her North American concert tour called "Hello Bi+ches Tour 2016" in New York.
It can be remembered that CL drew flak after performing the Quran version of "MTBD" during a show in Los Angeles. The track, which was released in 2014, became controversial because of its background which reportedly sounds like Quran reading, Allkpop.
The 2NE1 member was lambasted for the unedited version "MTBD" for allegedly discriminating the Muslim people. After the incident in her Los Angeles "Hello Bi+ches Tour 2016," CL acknowledged it was their mistake, stating that the engineer sent the wrong version for the concert tour.
She also promised to delete the controversial version and seemed to have kept her promise after performing the edited version of "MTBD" during her show in Dallas.
Congratulations to G-Dragon and CL for making it to the "2016 HYPBEAST 100."
