"Person of Interest" actress Sarah Shahi joins Hollywood vet Al Pacino in Johnny Martin's crime thriller "Hangman." She has been added to its already jam-packed cast, which includes Brittany Snow and Karl Urban.
Shahi will play police Captain Lisa Watson in "Hangman," Deadline reported. Pacino will play a homicide detective who teams up with the criminal profiler (Urban) to catch a serial killer whose crimes are inspired by the children's game Hangman. Snow will play a crime reporter.
To those who are not aware, the casting of Pacino, Urban, and Snow was confirmed by Rooster Films early November. The script of "Hangman" is penned by Rooster Films' screenwriters Michael Caissie and Charles Huttinger, who are repped by Christopher Sherman.
"Hangman" will be executive produced by Etchie Stroh, who represented international sales at the American Film Market. Patriot Pictures and Union Patriot Capital Management's Michael Mendelsohn produces with Cheyenne Enterprises' Arnold Rifkin. Union Patriot Capital is also financing.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Shahi has been recently tapped to play the iconic sleuth in the CBS network's "Nancy Drew" pilot. Her character is based on the beloved book series and will be now in her 30s. She will serve as a detective for the New York Police Department, where she investigates and solves crimes using her uncanny observational skills, all while navigating the complexities of life in a modern world.
Shahi becomes the latest actress to play Nancy Drew, who was most recently played by Emma Roberts in the 2007 feature film. Her character first appeared in books in 1930 and was created by Edward Stratemeyer.
Shahi is represented by CAA, McKeon/Myones Entertainment, and Meyer & Downs. Her other credits include USA Network's "Fairly Legal" as a fixer attorney, "Person of Interest," "Ray Donovan," NBC's "Life" as a detective, and "The Sopranos."
Pacino and Urban are represented by UTA. Snow is repped by WME and Principal Entertainment-LA.
