Recent trade rumors are out that the Boston Celtics are preparing a five-player trade package to offer the Sacramento Kings in exchange for Rudy Gay, Willie Cauley-Stein, and Ty Lawson.
The Celtics have been mentioned in a lot of trade rumors this season. Although most reports say that Boston is looking for a legitimate superstar, there are also speculations that they could add some role players to further improve their current roster.
One of the latest trade rumors about the team right now is an eight-player trade with the Kings that could land them versatile small forward Rudy Gay.
Gay has been the subject of many trade rumors since the recent summer after he told reporters that he is "unhappy" about his situation in Sacramento. The 30-year-old former Connecticut Huskies standout admitted that he feels his career is unstable with the Kings, even labeling the team as "basketball hell" when he first met former head coach George Karl in February 2015.
According to rumors, the Kings had been trying to trade Gay since last season, but the team has not found the ideal trade partner yet.
Nevertheless, it looks like Sacramento will finally have a place to send Gay as Boston is rumored to be interested in taking in the disgruntled player.
HNGN reported that the Celtics could send Terry Rozier, Amir Johnson, and Tyler Zeller plus Boston's 2018 first-round pick and Memphis' 2019 first-round pick (via Boston) to the Kings for Gay, Cauley-Stein, and Lawson.
Gay brings a second go-to scorer for the Celtics behind point guard Isaiah Thomas. Gay is arguably an upgrade over Jae Crowder at the small forward position as he is effective on both ends of the floor.
Cauley-Stein and Lawson could help Boston fortify their bench as affordable options at the center and guard positions.
Meanwhile, the Kings basically get two first-round selections for Gay, Rozier in exchange for Lawson, and Johnson and Zeller for reserve center Cauley-Stein, which are all good returns.
At the moment, though, RealGM indicated that aside from the Celtics, three other NBA teams are interested in Gay, namely the Thunder, Pacers, and Rockets.
