Few more days before "Hwarang: The Beginning" air its first episode, KBS has unveiled more individual stills for Park Hyung Sik's character. The upcoming KBS drama will premiere on Monday, Dec. 19.
The 25-year old actor will be playing as King Sam Maek Jong, a young distrustful king who secretly becomes a Hwarang warrior, gaining strength and leadership ability in the process. A previous teaser released by KBS gave a brief overview of the "faceless" king's many sides: a distant young king who travels among his people in disguise, a possible pundit, and even a playful warrior in training.
However, in the new still cuts, it appears that the unhappier side of King Sam Maek Jong's story is being focused, Soompi reported. The still images shows a solemn expression of Park's face.
King Sam Maek Jong is illustrated as someone who conquered the throne at a very young age, however, he is unable to show his face in the public. Obscuring the vulnerable heart filled with sorrow, the King continues to rise despite of his tragic destiny.
Meanwhile, cast member of the variety show "Running Man," Lee Kwang Soo will play as a cameo in the upcoming KBS drama. As revealed by the producers, the 31-year old will be making a short yet significant appearance as the brother of Aro, which is played by Go Ara, Allkpop reported.
Reports also revealed that Lee dedicated an immense amount of his time for his cameo role. The actor even participated in script readings and attended multiple filming.
Unlike other cameo roles, Lee's character is one of the most important roles in the drama series. Lee is a key character in the start of "Hwarang: The Beginning."
The drama will revolve around an elite group of young male called Hwarang who grow through passion and love in Seorabeol, the capital of the Kingdom of Silla. The drama will be airing every Monday and Tuesday at 9 p.m KST on KBS.
