Philadelphia 76ers center Norles Noel is very upset with his very limited playing time with he said to be only eight minutes. He has talked to head coach Brett Brown and there may be a trade, as the Sixers prefer to keep Joel Embiid and Jahlil Okafor than him.
Noel was reported to have a conversation with coach Brown on Friday, Dec. 16 according to Philly Voice. Coach Brown explained his decision to put Embiid and Okafor ahead of Noel. However the coach implicitly indicated there is a trade plan for Noel.
“...it’s important that he hold his head high, that I help him, that I continue to coach him and move him forward in a way that increases his development, that somehow, someway gets him a little bit better during the time that I’m with him,” said coach Brown
In the more recent update, as reported by CBS Sports, the Sixers is now putting Noel out of the rotation for the foreseeable future. Sixers will play Embiid and Okafor as a front court duo, while Noel is only played when either one of them is in foul trouble or unable to play. This decision will surely make Noel become more anxious to be traded.
The 6’11” center is in his fourth season with Sixers. But this season is his third one playing for the team, because he was out for the entire season in 2013-14 due to injury.
In his career with the Sixers, Noel only averaged 10.5 points and 8.1 rebounds, while Okafor tallied 17.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. While Embiid sowed a significant progress after returning from two-seasons absent because of broken navicular bone in his foot. Embiid averages 17.5 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game, establishing himself as a strong rim defender.
This may be the end of Noel’s journey with the Sixers as he may not be able to increase his playing time, and that make him frustrated. Watch an interview with Noel as he expressed his disappointment saying that he is to good to have only eight minutes playing time.
