"This Is Us" will be joined by Law & Order SVU actor Hari Dhillon in a guest starring role.
According to Deadline, the actor has been tapped to play Sanjay, a workplace rival of Randall in an upcoming episode of "This Is Us." He will appear in a recurring basis in the remaining episodes of the season. No date has been set for his episode, but it's likely that the actor will make his debut sometime in January.
Dhillon will mark as the second character introduced as a colleague of Randall on "This Is Us." Fans will remember that "Westworld" actor Jimmi Simpson has also guest starred in one episode as Andy, a Wall Street trader who Randall caught in one scene about to commit suicide.
While no further details have been released about Sanjay, it's likely that he will strike up a feud against Randall. In case that's the trajectory his character was set up for, it will be interesting to see if Randall will be forced to go head to head with him. We've already seen his competitive side with Kevin, so that makes for a possibility.
In addition to "Law & Order SVU," Dhillon has also appeared on "Madam Secretary" and on BBC's "Holby City."
"This Is Us" follows the lives of Kevin, Randall and Kate, who after a stroke of fate have become connected on the day they were born. The series is created and executive produced by Dan Fogelman.
Cast members include Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, Chrissy Metz, Justin Hartley, Sterling K. Brown, Susan Kelechi Watson, Chris Sullivan and Ron Cephas Jones.
Following a well-received early season 1, the show has been nominated at the 74th Golden Globes for Best Drama Series. The series is competing against "Westworld," "Game of Thrones," "Stranger Things," and "The Crown."
"This Is Us" returns with new episodes on Tuesday, Jan. 10 on NBC.
