Song Joong Ki and So Ji Sub's upcoming film "Battleship Island" recently wrapped up filming. The film is directed by Ryoo Seung Wan, the same director of hit films "Veteran" and "The Berlin Files."
"Battleship Island" depicts the attempted prison break of more than 400 Joseon people from a forced labor camp on Hashima Island. Production's cast and crew devoted six months of their time and just recently completed filming.
With the recent completion of the film's production, "Descendant of the Sun" actor, Song, revealed that, "We started in the hot summer and worked hard for 6 months. I wanted to do really well as it's a meaningful production to me and I'm honored that I could be part of a film with the best staff," Allkpop reported.
The 39-year old actor, So, also revealed that although there were dangerous, hard, and emotional moment during filming, he is grateful and happy that they were able to successfully finish the film. Fellow actor Hwang Jung Min also shared that, "I'm happy that we have completed the big project 'Battleship Island,' and I want to applaud myself; we were able to have a good finish because all the staff members, director, and actors worked hard."
Apparently, it looks like a mini pre-celebration with the "Battleship Island" cast has already commenced earlier. On Dec. 16, a photo was uploaded by Lee Jung Hyun in her Instagram account, which described Song, So, and Hwang as great and precious actors, Soompi reported.
In the photo, Hwang and Song pose playfully while Lee and So portrays the more serious look. A hashtag #Angel Hwang Jung Min #Cool guy So Ji Sub #Joong Ki is the best, is also included in the photo's caption.
Hwang will be playing as Lee Kang-ok, a bandmaster at a hotel in Kyungsung, who chooses to take his only daughter to Japan for safekeeping. However, the two got sent to the Hashima labor camp instead.
So will play as Choi Chil-seong, the best street fighter in Kyungsung, a coarse man who constantly start up troubles in the labor camp. Song will play as the independent fighter Park Moo-yeong, an independent fighter who will infiltrate the island in order to rescue a key person in the independence movement who is held captive in the labor camp.
"Battleship Island" is slated for release in early 2017!
