SechSkies member Ko Ji Yong's decision to feature on the upcoming reality-variety show, "Return of Superman," has rubbed several fans the wrong way.
Last month, Ko and his three-year old son Ko Seung Jae were confirmed to join the show and fans are expressing their disappointment and anger over Ko's decision to be on the program, which debuts in January 2017 on KBS, according to All Kpop. Since SechSkies' disbandment in 2000, Ko has distanced himself from the entertainment industry and decided to live a life as a non-celebrity in order to focus on his family and business.
He recently made his first television appearance in 16 years on the variety show, "Infinity Challenge" for a SechSkies reunion concert. However, Ko was the only member of the dance music group who refused to renew his contract under YG Entertainment.
Therefore, while some fans are excited to see Ko on their television screens, some are upset with his decision to return to the entertainment world, but not as a SechSkies member. The fans are not the only ones who were disappointed with Ko's decision to join "Return of Superman."
Earlier this month, Ko's fellow SechSkies members also admitted that they were let down by Ko's decision, but it was understandable because the filming of the upcoming reality-variety show only took place on weekends and therefore, would not affect his business activities.
"When we first heard about Go Ji Yong appearing [on the show] through news reports, we were a little sad," SechSkies member Eun Ji said in a statement obtained by Soompi. "However, we quickly got over it when we found out he's only filming on the weekends, and is still working on weekdays. We respect his intentions." The group also added they would love to visit Ko on "Return of Superman" if he invited them on the show.
