Boruto's story continues with the latest monthly chapter featuring his father, Sasuke and the other four Kages. Although it's source material is from the latest movie on Naruto, the latest chapter has some key differences offering new insights to the power of Momoshiki and Boruto.
Chapter 8 Recap
Momoshiki has finally devoured Kinshiki and he immediately shows off his true power by easily taking on the Kages as illustrated in Manga Stream. Momoshiki even created a Golem made of God Tree so he could protect himself from other attacks. Fortunately, the coordinated attacks of Sasuke and Naruto (using Kurama and Susanoo) has greatly limited Momoshiki.
But Momoshiki has found a way of powering himself once again. The scientist Katasuke was watching the fight and fires off his Kote even though he was warned against it. Momoshiki got hold of the ninjutsu inside the Kote which immediately restores his power.
The chapter ends with Momoshiki using his power to hold the all Kages and Sasuke. It's up to Boruto to save them from the clutches of the enemy.
Chapter 9 Predictions/Spoilers
Although the initial reactions in My Anime List forum point to a rocky plot and artwork, it still features some amazing fight scenes as they are depicted in the movie. Of course, Boruto will find some sort of success against Momoshiki since he will have to reveal his true potential as a shinobi to fend off the villain. It will probably take two more chapters before the movie adaptation ends since Boruto will have to win the fight and an epilogue about the new characters.
Moving beyond the movie adaptation is going to be very exciting because the manga will finally offer some original content. The manga is not just about Boruto and his father - Sasuke's daughter, Sarada and Orochimaru's son Mitsuki will also grow up and show their true potential. Of course, the addition of Kote and synthetic ninjutsu also offers a different dimension in storytelling.
