"Six Flying Dragons" actor Yoo Ah In has failed his third medical check-up for his mandatory military service. According to Yoo's agency, UAA Entertainment, a shoulder injury, which the actor suffered about a year ago, is what is keeping him from starting his military service.
In 2015, the actor injured his shoulder on the set of a movie he was filming, according to All Kpop. Yoo has publicly expressed his desire to enlist in the military and fulfill his national duty on several occassions. However, his shoulder injury comes back to haunt him and has become a real obstacle to his wish of serving his country.
Yoo's military enlistment was postponed for the third time after the actor failed his medical-check-up. The military affairs office in Daegu, which is in charge of the examinations, has now asked the actor to get a medical check-up next year.
At the time of Yoo's first examination in December 2015, the reports stated that he "needs six months of observation." His next medical check-up took place in May, following which he was again told that his shoulder area requires further observation. The actor's agency has now issued an official statement following his third postponement.
"Yoo Ah In had his third medical evaluation on December 15 at the Daegu branch of the MMA. The results were the same as before, to postpone his military service classification," Soompi quoted the agency as saying. "Yoo Ah In has postponed projects and CF contracts to fulfill his military enlistment requirements. However, the results of his multiple re-evaluations have been that 'his military service classification cannot be determined at this point in time.'"
The agency added that at the moment the actor cannot enlist and will have to wait until his next medical examination for approval. The agency concluded the statement by saying that Yoo will focus on rehabilitation until his next appointment and is hopeful of a good result so that he can start his military service.
