Star Wars’ Luke Skywalker speechless and devastated over Princess Leia’s death

Mark Hamill was devastated and speechless upon learning the death of co-star and long time friend Carrie Fisher. The two actors co-starred as the twin siblings Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa in George Lucas' space saga, the "Star Wars" original trilogy.

According to Time Magazine, Hamill could not believe the new that Fisher died on Tuesday.

Upon learning the news Hamill, who is known to the world as galactic hero and last Jedi warrior Luke Skywalker, tweeted "no words #Devastated'. Hamill also tweeted along a picture of him and Fisher in full "Star Wars" costume from the original trilogy.

In the original trilogy, Hamill was a reluctant hero who was embarked on a journey to discover his true identity while fighting in a rebellion against the Empire. His character Luke met Fisher's Princess Leia aboard the Death Star where the latter was being held imprisoned.

They later on teamed up to end the planet destroyer that is the Death Star. Afterwards, the two discovered that they are actually the separated twin children of Empire leader and ex-Jedi turned Sith Lord, Darth Vader.

In 2015, Hamill and Fisher reprised their roles in "The Force Awakens" but they did not share any screen time.

Prior to the news of Fisher's death, moviegoers were delighted with a surprise when a digital replica of a young Fisher as Princess Leia. But it turned out that the digital replica will now be a sort of a tribute upon the actor's death.

On Dec. 23, it was reported that Fisher suffered a heart attack while on a flight from London to Los Angeles. During Fisher's hospitalization, Hamill even posted via Instagram a get-well message for Fisher.

Prior to her sudden death, Fisher has already completed filming for "Star Wars Episode VIII" which will be released by Disney in 2017. According to The Guardian, Fisher's iconic Princess Leia has been planned to be included in future "Star Wars" installments.

However, a Disney spokeswoman on Tuesday declined to comment on whether Leia would appear in films beyond Episode VIII.
