Netizens are not so happy with Lee Jong Suk after his 40-seconder acceptance speech at the "2016 MBC Drama Awards" after winning Daesang or the highest award.
According to Allkpop, a netizen noticed how short Lee Jong Suk's acceptance speech was at the ceremony which caused other netizens to raise their brows in agreement with the observation. Many of them were angered with the speech, while others thought the actor does not deserve the highest award.
"Wow...to someone like him...Daesang? Did you guys watch him do the acceptance speech???" a commenter wrote.
During the acceptance speech, Lee Jong Suk thanked certain people and his fans. Reports claimed the actor was even asked by the MCs to add something; however, Lee Jong Suk instead shared that he has taken herbal pills to relax and that his was kind of sleepy.
On the other hand, netizens were dismayed that the Daesang award was entirely based on fan votes instead of looking at the performance of the artists. There were also netizens who said Kim So Yeon should have won the highest award at the "2016 MBC Drama Awards."
A netizen said, "From next year, just do one award for the most popular and one for actual acting ability. This Daesang is a joke....If you do it by fan votes, of course, a young male actor will win!"
On the same day, Lee Jong Suk took to his Instagram account to express his gratitude for the Daesang award, Soompi cited. The actor admitted he was nervous when he accepted the highest recognition on the "2016 MBC Drama Awards" stage.
"I sincerely thank you. I think it's the first time I was this nervous my whole life.. I wasn't able to thank every single person I am thankful toward, so I don't think I expressed my thanks properly," he said.
Lee Jong Suk continued, "I will live without forgetting my thankful heart. I will work hard to repay the weight of the award with a humble attitude! I am sincerely thankful. Happy New Year!"
