During this year's music festivals in Korea, it seems that K-Pop girl groups were most viewed during the event. TWICE, Red Velvet, GFRIEND, GOT7 got the highest viewership ratings during the show.
During MBC's Gayo Daejejun last Dec. 31, South Korean girl group TWICE rendered the highest viewership rating nationwide with 8.2 percent during their performance of their hit single "TT." In Seoul's metropolitan area, Red Velvet clocked in a 10.7 percent viewership rating during their performance of "Russian Roulette," Soompi reported.
Another girl group, GFRIEND, initiated a viewership peak of 10.3 percent during the KBS Song Festival last Dec. 29 upon performing "Rough." Subsequently, GOT7's "Hard Carry," was the most viewed performance during SBS' Gayo Daejun with a 9 percent viewership rating.
Meanwhile, the only male group in the list, GOT7, recently caused a turbulence during their fan meeting at Cebu City, Philippines. On Dec. 21, the group had a fan meeting at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino, where fans had drowned the event with excitement and joy.
About 1,000 fans had gathered to witness JB, Mark, Jackson, Jinyoung, Youngjae, Bambam, and Yungyeom perform on stage. Unlike a concert where artists' performance customarily limited to dancing and singing, a fan meeting event offers more since it give fans a chance to interact and play games with their idols, Inquirer reported.
Commonly, K-Pop groups gives their fans a group name in which the group calls them by. GOT7 fans are lovingly called as "iGOT7." The name is commonly stylized as "Ahgase," which is also understood as "baby bird."
The event was organized by the Singapore-based company, Three Angles Production (TAP). The fan meeting also marks the group's first ever visit to Cebu City. Ticket prices of the event ranges from $180.59 USD (Php 9,000) for VVIP to $40.13 USD for the Free Standing Zone.
