The popular K-pop group Apink, also written as A Pink, has been recognised with the special honour at the KKBOX Music Awards. The six-member band also performed at the award ceremony.
On Jan 24, the 11th KKBox Music awards took place in Taipei Arena, Taiwan wherein musicians from all over Asia were honoured for their contribution to the field of music. Apink was one of the several award winners and performers of the night.
According to Korea Herald, the group that consists of Park Cho-rong, Yoon Bo-mi, Jung Eun-ji, Oh Ha-young, Kim Nam-joo, and Son Na-eun, were given Special Award trophy. It is said that Apink was the only K-pop group present at the event. Not only did they win an award, they also performed for their fans. They presented some of their hit numbers including "Mr. Chu," "Remember" and "NoNoNo."
On the occasion of Apink's victory, the band's representative issued a statement that reads: "It's remarkable that A Pink proved its international popularity at this festival,"
According to Hello Asia's live blog for the awards ceremony, JJ Lin, Jam Hsiao and Della Ding were among the other performers in the event. The show was hosted by Mickey Huang and commenced with a performance by Singaporean musician JJ Lin. Rainie Yang, Magic Power, William Wei, and Tor were among the other performers at the event. Taiwanese performers Yoyo Cen and Fang Wu were honoured with "Best Indie Artist" and "Best Newcomer" respectively.
A Cube Entertainment's Apink, originally a seven-member band, was launched in 2011. However, Hong Yoo-kyung quit the group in 2013. The band has released five Korean extended plays and two studio albums. They have also ventured J-pop market with their Japanese album "Pink Season."
Apart from, KKBOX Music Awards, the girl group has won several accolades and prestigious awards including MTV Best of the Best under Best Video Female and Best Female Group award, Seoul Music Awards for Bongsang Awards for consecutively three years, Golden Disk Awards and many more. Apink has also appeared on several Korean variety shows such as "Running Man," "2 Days & 1 Night" and "Real Men."
