During CES 2017, LG has unveiled its new soundbars as part of their new SJ series. The new soundbars unites its hi-resolution audio with Google's Chromecast.
LG's new SJ9 is made up of multiple speakers including two up-firing ones to support its Dolby Atmos technology. Dolby Atmos provides individual audio objects in real-time to create a 3D effect, which is designed to give furnish a more immersive listening experience.
Since 2012, the technology itself has already been available. However, only in the last couple years that it has been making its way to consumer electronics.
The SJ9 also provides high-resolution audio, which was dubbed by LG as the 4K audio. The 4K audio is compatible with lossless audio files. Further, the electronic company revealed that the SJ9 also has an upscaling feature for non-hi-resolution audio to increase files to the 24bit/192Hz quality, Sound Guys reported as cited by Android Authority.
Meanwhile, its predecessor SJ8 lacks the Dolby Atmos support and the up-firing speakers. However, it maintains the hi-resolution audio and built-in Chromecast.
SJ8 will also be integrated with specific upcoming LG television models. This will allow users to replace their original stand with the SJ8 soundbar for a slimmer profile using the supplied TV Perfect Fit Kit.
Price and availability details of the products is yet to be revealed. One of the multinational electronics company in South Korea, LG Electronics employs over 82,000 people with 119 local subsidiaries worldwide.
In 2011, LG Electronics became the world's second largest television manufacturer, as reported Bloomberg. Three years later, the company got a global sales of $55.91 billion USD (KRW 59.04 trillion).
Following the end of the Korean War, LG was established to provide the rebuilding nation with domestically-produced consumer electronics and home appliances. LG is the first ever company to produced South Korea's first radios, TVs, refrigerators, washing machines, and air conditioners.
