"Sleepy Hollow" Season 4 is expected to introduce major changes in the series following the departure of Nicole Beharie. Executive producer Albert Kim refused the reveal the main reason behind the exit of Detective Abbie Mill (Nicole Beharie) but her legacy is said to live on.
The Fox series was forced to have a soft reboot after the heroic death of Abbie. This is also the reason behind the two key changes in "Sleepy Hollow" Season 4: new characters and a change in location, NY Post reported.
Speaking to the news outlet, Kim has revealed that most scenes of "Sleepy Hollow" Season 4 is taking place in an upstate New York village. He also said that that Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) will be meeting his new partner, Homeland Security agent Diana Thomas (Janina Gavankar).
The executive producer added Crane will start anew in "Sleepy Hollow" Season 4 sans Abbie. "Crane finds himself thrown back to square one, almost like the pilot, alone in a strange new world where he doesn't know anyone," Kim divulged.
Abbie's departure has disappointed several fans and Kim knows that. "If we had been able to continue that chemistry forever, we certainly would have," the "Sleepy Hollow" Season 4 said. "The challenge for us was just figuring out the best way to move forward."
Beharie, for her part, has said to TV Line that she is grateful for being able to play Abbie, adding that it has been an incredible experience for her. The actress also explained that the departure of her character is a confirmation that she's done all what she was meant to do. The actress also thanked all the people who are working very hard to give its avid fans the best experience they deserve.
Meanwhile, Janina Gavankar, who will play as the new agent in "Sleepy Hollow" Season 4, has shared that the show will continue Abbie Mills' legacy. The actress revealed that they talk about Beharie's character despite the fact that she is no longer appearing in the future episodes.
"Sleepy Hollow" Season 4 is set to premiere on Friday, January 6, at 9 P.M. on Fox. Watch this season's official trailer below:
